Written by Dwight Jon Zimmerman and Ian Rimmer
Art by Art Wetherell, Stephen Baskerville, Bambos, Euan Peters and Cynthia Martin

The adventure continues with Lion-O tumbling ever deeper into a pit inside the Cave of Sorrows, beneath the surface of Third Earth. His fall is broken by the web of a giant spider. Despite Gemini’s warning to conserve the Sword of Omens’ power, he uses it to defeat the spider before cutting himself free. He then comes upon three stone skulls shooting laser beams and uses Sight Beyond Sight to discover that his path is through the middle one. Once inside, he is in complete darkness and needs the sword’s powers to light his way until he reaches a large cavern filled with glowing hot lava. As he crosses a causeway, he is again attacked and needs the sword to defend himself from strange fish jumping out of the lava. Finally across, he is in sight of the Master Key of the Astral Prison. But he has to fight its guardian which uses the last of the Sword of Omens’ power. When he finally claims the key, Lion-O is pulled into the Astral Plane!

Lion-O, typically confident says that the Mutant hasn't been hatched yet that's a match for the Sword of Omens. Sure enough, who should appear but Slithe and his cronies. Lion-O and Snarf are overcome by sleeping gas and taken to Castle Plun-Darr. Lion-O awakes to find the sword gone. Snarf meanwhile is hanging above a cauldron of slime and not doing much about it.
